CLASSIC TEA VARIETIES
The origin of tea is widely discussed but it is certain that it originated in China, where it was used 5,000 years ago and still holds great significance today.
When we speak of tea in the classical sense, we mean the leaves of the tea plant. Black, green, oolong, pu-erh, and white tea all come from the evergreen Camellia sinensis. The difference between these tea types lies in their production: black tea is fermented, while green and white tea remain unfermented. Oolong combines the characteristics of green and black tea and oxidizes 15-70%. Pu-erh is a truly fermented tea, involving microorganisms.
