Description
Japan Genmaicha â green tea with roasted rice
Genmaicha is a traditional Japanese tea blend made from Bancha green tea and roasted puffed rice. During the roasting process, some rice grains pop open, which is why this tea is sometimes called âpopcorn teaâ.
The flavour combines the fresh clarity of green tea with nutty and lightly roasted notes from the rice. The result is a smooth, balanced tea with a warm and distinctive character. Genmaicha has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries and is a popular everyday tea.
Ingredients: green tea (Bancha), roasted puffed rice.
Preparation Japan Genmaicha
Use 12 to 15 grams per litre of water. Pour water at 80â90 °C over the tea and let it steep for 1 to 2 minutes. The result is a golden cup with a fine balance of freshness and roasted notes.
