White Tea

Delicate tea from young leaves and buds

White Tea is one of the more delicate teas made from Camellia sinensis. Many varieties use young leaves and buds that are processed only lightly. As a result, the flavour remains soft, bright and mild.

Depending on the variety, the cup can be floral, fresh, gently tart or lightly sweet. Therefore, this category is a good choice if you enjoy a delicate tea with a clear and balanced character.

What makes this tea special?

Like green tea, black tea and oolong, this type of tea comes from the same plant. However, the main differences lie in the selection of the leaves and the particularly gentle processing.

The name refers to the pale young buds, which can have a fine silvery down depending on the variety. Because the leaves are only lightly processed, their delicate and natural flavour profile is largely preserved.

How to prepare it

For many varieties, we recommend water at around 70–80 °C and a steeping time of 2–3 minutes. Water that is too hot or a steeping time that is too long can make the flavour stronger and more tart.

First, follow the preparation instructions on the respective product page. Afterwards, you can adjust the amount of tea and the steeping time to suit your taste.
