Description
Green Rooibos Tea – mild, fresh and unfermented
Green Rooibos Tea is the unfermented version of the well-known rooibos tea from South Africa. Unlike classic red rooibos, green rooibos is not fermented after harvesting, but processed directly. This gives it its mild, fresh and slightly grassy character with a delicate sweetness.
If you like rooibos but prefer a finer and lighter cup, green rooibos is a good alternative. The infusion is lighter than classic rooibos tea and brings fresh, slightly fruity and gently woody notes.
Green rooibos from South Africa
Rooibos comes from South Africa and is made from the plant Aspalathus linearis. With green rooibos, careful processing is important so that the fresh character of the leaves is preserved.
Our Green Rooibos Tea consists of 100% green rooibos and contains no additives or flavourings. You can drink it pure or combine it with fruits, citrus notes or a little honey.
Green Rooibos Tea taste
Green Rooibos Tea tastes mild, fresh, slightly grassy and delicately sweet. Compared with classic rooibos, it is lighter, finer and less round-woody. This makes it a good choice if you are looking for a gentle rooibos tea with a fresher character.
How to prepare Green Rooibos Tea
For one cup, use about 2 teaspoons of green rooibos per 200 ml of water. Pour hot water at 90–95 °C over the tea and let it steep for 5–8 minutes. The longer the steeping time, the more intense the taste.
Compared with classic rooibos, green rooibos prefers slightly cooler water. At around 90 °C, its fresh, slightly grassy and fruity notes come through particularly well.
Green Rooibos Tea hot or cold
Green Rooibos Tea tastes good when prepared hot, but also works well as a cold tea. For a cold version, prepare the tea as usual, let it cool and serve it with ice cubes. If you like, add lemon slices, orange slices or fresh fruit.
Green rooibos or classic rooibos?
The difference lies mainly in the processing and taste. Classic rooibos tea is fermented and tastes round, soft and slightly sweet. Green rooibos remains unfermented and therefore tastes fresher, lighter and slightly grassier.
