Description
Sage Tea made from dried sage leaves
Our dried sage leaves are ideal for preparing a full-bodied herbal infusion and can also be used in a wide range of savoury dishes. They offer an aromatic, slightly bitter and pleasantly spicy flavour that is characteristic of sage.
Simply pour boiling water over the leaves to prepare a cup of sage tea. The result is a fragrant herbal infusion with a distinctive taste. If you prefer a milder flavour, simply reduce the amount of leaves or shorten the brewing time.
What does sage tea taste like?
Sage tea has a bold, herbal flavour with slightly earthy and mildly bitter notes. Depending on the brewing time, the infusion can range from smooth and balanced to more intense and aromatic.
Sage also blends well with other herbs. It pairs particularly well with mint, lemon verbena or lavender flowers for a more rounded flavour profile.
How to prepare sage tea
Use about one heaped teaspoon of dried sage leaves for one cup. Pour over freshly boiled water and allow the tea to steep for 5–10 minutes. Strain before drinking.
For a lighter infusion, use fewer leaves or shorten the brewing time. If you prefer a stronger herbal flavour, allow the tea to steep a little longer.
Dried sage leaves for cooking
Dried sage leaves are also popular in the kitchen. They add a distinctive herbal aroma to pasta, risotto, vegetables, soups, sauces and marinades.
The leaves can be used whole or lightly crushed before cooking to release even more flavour.
