Description
Chasen – the traditional matcha whisk
The chasen, also known as a matcha whisk, is an essential tool for preparing matcha tea. Made from bamboo, it is designed to mix matcha powder with water and create a fine, even foam.
Before use, soak the whisk in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes to soften the bristles. Then add 1–2 scoops of matcha powder to a bowl, pour in water at around 80°C and whisk in a zigzag motion for 15–30 seconds until a light foam forms. Adjust the amount of powder or water depending on your preference.
Material: Bamboo
Length: 105 mm

Cleaning
Rinse the whisk under hot water after use. Do not place it in the dishwasher. For drying, we recommend using a matcha whisk holder to help maintain its shape.
Use and tradition
The chasen is part of traditional Japanese tea preparation and has been used for centuries. It is crafted from a single piece of bamboo, shaped into fine bristles that allow the matcha to be whisked evenly.
Craftsmanship
Each whisk is carefully made by shaping bamboo into delicate prongs. This structure is essential for achieving a smooth and foamy matcha.
