Description

Lemongrass Tea – cut lemongrass with fresh aroma

Lemongrass Tea has a fresh, citrus-like and pleasantly aromatic taste. The cut lemongrass is suitable for a pure herbal tea, for your own tea blends or as a spice in the kitchen.

Although the name is reminiscent of lemon, lemongrass belongs botanically to the grass family. Its citrus-like taste comes from the natural aroma of the plant and makes lemongrass popular for fresh, clear infusions.

Lemongrass Tea taste

Lemongrass Tea has a fresh, citrus-like and slightly grassy taste. The infusion is clear, aromatic and not too sweet. This makes it a good choice if you are looking for an herbal tea with a natural citrus note.

You can drink Lemongrass Tea pure or combine it with other ingredients. Lemongrass pairs especially well with mint, ginger, green tea, black tea, hibiscus, apple pieces or orange peel.

Lemongrass Tea hot or cold

Lemongrass Tea is classically prepared as a hot infusion. It has a fresh, citrus-like aroma and can be enjoyed pure or with a little honey. A splash of lemon also works well with its natural freshness.

For a cold version, prepare the tea a little stronger, let it cool and serve it with ice cubes. Lemon slices, mint or a little fruit juice complement its fresh character.

Lemongrass for your own tea blends

Lemongrass is a popular ingredient for homemade tea blends. It adds a clear citrus note and freshens up herbal tea, fruit tea, green tea or spice tea.

If you want to create your own blends, you can combine lemongrass with mild herbs, fruits or spices. This creates fresh tea ideas for hot and cold infusions.

Lemongrass in the kitchen

Cut lemongrass can also be used in the kitchen. It pairs well with Asian-inspired soups, curries, marinades and dishes with coconut milk. It is usually simmered with the dish and removed before serving.

How to prepare Lemongrass Tea

For one cup, use about 1 teaspoon of lemongrass per 250 ml of water. Pour boiling water at 100 °C over the lemongrass and let the tea steep for 6–10 minutes.

For one litre, we recommend about 15–20 g of lemongrass. If you prefer a more intense taste, you can use a little more tea or extend the steeping time slightly.
